Course title: Risk Assessment   

 

Duration: 3 Modules over 2 days

 

Maximum attendees: 12 

 

Course objective: To develop competency in risk assessment, enabling course attendees to be effective risk assessors.

 

On completion of the course delegates will: 

- Have an appreciation for risk driven legislation and its implications for workplace risk assessment 

- Be able to carry out general risk assessments 

- Have an understanding of the risk assessment process for specialist risk assessments e.g. MMH 

- Be able to “quality assure” risk assessments 

- Understand the limits of their competencies

 

 

Module 1 – Compliance and understanding

-          Legal framework

·         Common law

·         Statute law

·         SHWW General Application Regulations 2007

·         SHWW Act 2005

-          Hazard identification

-          Principles of prevention

-          Introduction to risk assessment techniques

·         Quantitative

·         Qualitative

-          Methods for conducting general risk assessments

 

Module 2 – Effective implementation and review

-          Introduction to company specific risk assessment methodology

-          Leading a risk assessment team

-          Record keeping

-          Group exercise

 

Module 3 – Practical case ies and review

Attendees are expected to have completed site based risk assessments, and these are reviewed with the course assessor and individual feedback given.
